Well, you probably can't really tell, but he was a train engineer. Being a last minute Halloweenie, I couldn't find our red bandana and instead used a napkin! And it was cold outside! Sterling took a nose dive on a cement step yesterday. It was a bad day for all of us! Today, when we went shopping all the nice grandparents were out and about and they clucked over him while telling their own stories of cuts, and scrapes and gashes that healed in due time.

We went on a Christmas Train ride with Sterling. It's a cute little affair in Kingston. A very short ride of about a half hour on an old engine.He seems okay about it...Maybe not so sure...All aboard and Sterling doesn't seem to fully enjoy the ride.No crying, but he was definitely not into it.Train rides always make one a little wistful...

Sterling is now walking and talking! Well, maybe not really talking. At eleven months he is truly running around and taking all kinds of spills. He has scratches and bruises all over! I made this pie for my mom's birthday. Too bad I had to eat it all myself because we live so far away from each other. It was the least I could do. Happy Birthday, Mom!It had blueberries, strawberries, currants (from our little bushes!), peaches, nectarines and plums. I called it Crazyberry Pie.That's how I get soooo big.

On Sunday morning I got up bright and early and drove an hour to a little farm that is renowned for its organic pick-your-own strawberries. It was perfect weather--cloudy and not too hot. I never said anything about this--our pond in the morning when I go down to get the eggs. It was just so beautiful. I saw the fawn again. It's mother deposited it right smack in the middle of our yard, in between the pond and the road. Slightly strange. Last weekend we made an effort to go to Long Island and visit the ocean, which we miss so very much. This morning as I zipped down to gather eggs and feed the ducks, I went along my way looking for eggs and new nests.
